How to Produce Plantain Chips and Make Money Through It in Nigeria

Do you remember I said I would teach you how to produce some of the profitable and fast selling products I discussed in the previous article?

For those who are planning to venture into plantain chips business but prefer to be the producers, rather than being the retailers with a view to maximising more profit.

These are step by step processes for the production of plantain chips;

Ingredients;
  • Plantains (Ripe or not
  • Salt
  • Vegetable oil
  • Sugar
  • Water
  • Onion.
The first step is to peel off the plantains, then slice them into a flat round shape and put them in water. After some minutes, retrieve them from the water and put them in a sieve.

Step 2;

Measure both the sugar and the salt as to how plenty the plantains are so as to avoid being salty and stir it.

Step 3;

Pour much vegetable oil in a frypan, then place it on a gas cooker, stove or fire wood, then let it boil for a minute before putting onion, after that, pour some plantains which the frypan can contain, try to use a perforated spoon to mix them twice to avoid over fry.

Let the plantains boil for 17-30minutes before retrieving them from the frypan.

Put them in a sieve to drain all the vegetable oil in them and make them chill.

Now your products need packaging!

HOW TO PACKAGE THEM?

You need to design an air tight nylon for the products, labelling and branding are also essential in order to let your consumers distinguish between your products and others.

Set your price tag based on the production cost.

You know where to sell them right? Good luck.

Note: Quality goods attract great consumers and don't let your price tag gets higher than that of your competitors because you are still fresh in the market. Apply "market penetration pricing".

In conclusion, Plantain chips are fast sold in the market, also they are profitable products which are among the products I always recommend for young people who are willing to become entrepreneurs through small scale business.

Try the production today and be financially independent..There's no White collar job out there.

What other profitable products do you think one can still start producing with little capital now? Please feel free to contribute on this article... Your comments count.
